It’s no secret that I have a bit of a soft spot for Salford Quays – I love the modern architecture, the lights and colours of the buildings and the photo opportunities all around the Lowry and Media City area. There are tons of pics on the net from the quays, but it keeps drawing me back and I recently re-visited for another crack at a night photo shoot.
I had a shot in mind to get a wide angle view of Media City and wanted to get as high as possible to achieve the shot, so headed to the very top level of the Lowry Outlet car park, where thankfully, there was an unobstructed view of the buildings.
I went quite early in the evening before the sun had set and got some test shots, but I really wanted to get the colours of the buildings, so had a wonder around the quays for an hour and then went back to get the shots. I love the amount of detail that came through and the light trails from the cars going past. Also the reflections in the water of the deep blue from the lights on the BBC building.
This is my favourite shot from the evening, along with a couple of others.
